Cornea

The Cornea and Refractive Surgery Service provides comprehensive diagnostic testing and treatment of corneal and external diseases, including cataract surgery and corneal transplantation. The Cornea Service at MEEI has been at the forefront of many medical and surgical advances in the field.

The Service also performs refractive surgery, including Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK, PARK), Laser Assisted In-Situ Keratomileusis (LASIK), Automated Lamellar Keratomileusis (ALK), and Radial and Astigmatic Keratotomy (RK) and (AK). New programs have been developed for patients with severe corneal scarring, including stem cell transplantation, ocular surface reconstruction, and keratoprosthetic surgery.
