SECOND LOOK - Sight Enhancing Equipment and Services

low visionOver the recent years the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary expanded its services for patients with vision loss by enhancing the technology demonstration and training services offered in the Vision Rehabilitation Center. Generous donors have allowed our staff to keep up to date on the newest technologies to assist patients with vision impairment.

In our center, our occupational therapists offer hands-on training on computer accessibility software and video magnification devices. A wide range of devices, from simple to complex, is available for demonstration and training, for example, a simple computer mouse that is an on-screen magnifier can make a significant difference for patients who need to see detail on the computer monitor, specialized software can allow individuals to ‘listen’ to their email or computer documents and a digital voice recorder can be used to dial the telephone or keep track of one’s personal calendar.

Second Look was funded through the generous support of grateful patients, foundations and corporations. Please consider supporting our continued efforts to enhance and improve our services with new initiatives.
