Dr. William W. Montgomery (Monty) joined the Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary faculty in 1957. This year would have marked 50 years since he began his remarkable career. To mark this anniversary in a significant way and to recognize Monty’s love of teaching, MEEI is raising money to fully endow a William W. Montgomery Fellowship as a permanent testament to his life’s work. As of November 2007, more than $400,000 has already been raised towards a fellowship goal of $1,000,000.
At Dr. Montgomery’s memorial service, Dr. Mark Varvares described Monty in this way: “He was arguably the greatest otolaryngologist of the last century. He transformed our specialty into the sophisticated science it is today.”
