The Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary (MEEI) is an independent teaching hospital affiliated with the Harvard Medical School that specializes in diseases and disorders of the eye, ear, nose, head, neck and throat. The Harvard Chairmen of Ophthalmology and Otology and Laryngology are both housed at the Infirmary. Although generally our researchers are all faculty members of Harvard Medical School, the inventions of MEEI researchers are owned by Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary.
Pending and issued patents related to hearing, vision, drug delivery, voice and balance impairments, neural prostheses, medical devices, audiological systems and more are available for possible licensing. Several technologies have applications beyond the Infirmary's specialties of the eye, ear, nose, throat, head and neck such as cosmetic applications for the body, fiber formation and vascular diseases, etc. A partial list of technologies available in full or in part for licensing and further development (including references to published patents) may be searched by clicking on the link in the column on the left side of this page, "Available Technologies." Alternatively, the same list is found on related search engines such as the Mass. Technology Transfer Center's Technology Portal www.masstechportal.org. Please note that some of the listed technologies are jointly owned with other institutions, however, all institutions have designated a lead contact/agent to expedite and facilitate licensing. For further information related to patents and licensing of Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary technologies, or for identifying opportunities for commercial development, please contact Lisa Putukian, VP, Business Development, Phone: 617-573-4404, Email:lisa_putukian@meei.harvard.edu.
Material transfer agreements, or sponsored research agreement inquiries should be directed to the Office of Research Administration, 617-573-3009.
