Nursing at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary

The Infirmary has consistently been ranked as one of the top hospitals in the U.S. because of the dedication of our employees. The Infirmary does not have the high turnover in the nursing ranks that can plague other health care facilities. Our nurses tend to be long term employees who are committed to their profession and to making the the Infirmary a better place for patients and employees alike.

What makes the Infirmary unique is that it has all the benefits of being a Harvard affiliated teaching hospital, while still maintaining that community hospital feel. As a nurse at the Infirmary you will have the following resources available to you:

Education

The Infirmary is one of the only specialty hospitals in the U.S. that is an ACLS/BCLS certifiying agency, with courses being offered four times per year.

Each week there is a presentation given in one of our four specialty areas that gives our nurses the opportunity to get their CEU's without ever leaving the Infirmary. What makes the Infirmary different is that we are a collaborative practice and all of our disciplines come together to share their specialties with each other.

Preceptor/Mentor Program

The Infirmary realizes that starting a new job can be a nerve racking experience. We make the transition easier for our nurses by putting each new hire through an extensive one on one orientation to the Infirmary. Each new hire is assigned a preceptor who is your go to person for any needs during your orientation period. We also realize that education does not stop after your orientation ends, so we also pair you up with a mentor that you can utilize as long as you are employed at the Infirmary.
