Application Process - Ophthalmology Residency Program

Satisfactory completion of both a standard medical school curriculum and an approved twelve-month internship is required prior to the beginning of residency. The internship must be a strong clinical one (e.g., medicine, pediatrics, surgery, or transitional). United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) certificates are required for graduates of foreign medical schools.

The Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary participates in the Ophthalmology Matching Program (OMP) and its Central Application Service (CAS). The CAS application should be received by us by October 15. Interviews are offered to approximately 60 applicants and are conducted in the late fall. There are 8 first-year clinical positions available each year.
